Essentially, any rotating equipment that requires sealing against potential leakage can be equipped with mechanical seals. We typically categorize mechanical seals by application into the following main types:

All mechanical seals consist of three main parts:

 

1. At least one pair of sealing faces, comprising a rotating ring face and a stationary ring face, primarily categorized as either integral sealing faces or inserted sealing faces.

 

2. A series of secondary sealing components, typically made of flexible materials such as O-rings, gaskets, and V-rings.

 

3. Other components on the mechanical seal, such as gland rings, compression rings, screws, springs (mainly wave springs, single springs, and multiple springs), retaining rings, circlips, shaft sleeves, bellows (mainly rubber bellows and metal bellows), etc.
